Wait on the LORD: be of good courage,
and he shall strengthen thine heart;
wait, I say, on the LORD.

The Prayers of Jesus (6-8) 3/04/09
We continue with an overview of the 27 prayers of Jesus.

6. Praying after being rejected by certain cities in Galilee (Matthew 11:25-30)

KJV Matthew 11:25 At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes.

KJV Matthew 11:26 Even so, Father: for so it seemed good in thy sight.

KJV Matthew 11:27 All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.

KJV Matthew 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

KJV Matthew 11:29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

KJV Matthew 11:30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

7. Praying prior to the feeding of 5000 people (John 6:11)

KJV John 6:11 And Jesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down; and likewise of the fishes as much as they would.

8. Praying after feeding 5000 people (Matthew 14:22,23)

KJV Matthew 14:22 And straightway Jesus constrained his disciples to get into a ship, and to go before him unto the other side, while he sent the multitudes away.
KJV Matthew 14:23 And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone.

The Prayers of Jesus (3-5) 2/18/2009
Dear Family.

Lord, Bind Us Together In Love!

F Father

M Mother
I I
L Love
Y You

That was the theme of our Sunday School Breakfast on Sunday and it went very well. Thanks for all who worked so hard to make this time special for all of us who where there.

We continue to walk with our Lord Jesus as we observe His life of prayer. Today we will follow along and note three more occasions/reasons when He prayed.

3. Praying after the Sermon on the Mount, after the busiest day of His ministry and before His first preaching tour of Galilee (Mark 1:35-39)

KJV Mark 1:35 And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.
KJV Mark 1:36 And Simon and they that were with him followed after him.
KJV Mark 1:37 And when they had found him, they said unto him, All men seek for thee.
KJV Mark 1:38 And he said unto them, Let us go into the next towns, that I may preach there also: for therefore came I forth.
KJV Mark 1:39 And he preached in their synagogues throughout all Galilee, and cast out devils.

4. Praying after the healing of a leper (Luke 5:12-16)

KJV Luke 5:12 And it came to pass, when he was in a certain city, behold a man full of leprosy: who seeing Jesus fell on his face, and besought him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.

KJV Luke 5:13 And he put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will: be thou clean. And immediately the leprosy departed from him.

KJV Luke 5:14 And he charged him to tell no man: but go, and shew thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing, according as Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them

KJV Luke 5:15 But so much the more went there a fame abroad of him: and great multitudes came together to hear, and to be healed by him of their infirmities.
KJV Luke 5:16 And he withdrew himself into the wilderness, and prayed.

5. Praying before choosing the twelve disciples (Luke 6:12,13)
KJV Luke 6:12 And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God.
KJV Luke 6:13 And when it was day, he called unto him his disciples: and of them he chose twelve, whom also he named apostles;

We learn much about prayer by observing small children with their godly dads. Here is a devotion which came in my email this morning.

A childlike dependence
In his public teaching ministry Jesus commended humility as
the pre-eminent characteristic of the citizens of God's
kingdom, and went on to describe it as the humility of a
child ...
Many people are puzzled by this teaching, since children
are seldom humble in either character or conduct. Jesus
must therefore have been alluding to their humility of
status, not behaviour. Children are rightly called
'dependants'. They depend on their parents for everything.
For what they know they depend on what they have been
taught, and for what they have they depend on what they
have been given. These two areas are, in fact, the very
ones Jesus specifies when he develops the model of a
child's humility.

May the Lord bless us in our fellowship with Him.

In Christ,
