Wait on the LORD: be of good courage,
and he shall strengthen thine heart;
wait, I say, on the LORD.

Understanding The Heart of God 12/16/08
Good Morning, Dear Family.

God's blessings of grace and peace be with us today and always!

Are you like me, in that we struggle to understand and live in the connection between prophecy and fulfillment? Between the Old Testament and the New Testament? Here is something that recently came to me. Maybe this will help us to "see."

Also, this statement needs to be made: In the Old Testament Jesus was prophesied of through types, metaphors, pictures, similies and so forth. When He came in the flesh to dwell among us, He was no longer as in a photograph, but He had a body just like us, but without sin, of course.

What would you and I know about our mother, the one who gave us life and revealed her heart towards us through her actions and words, if we had only viewed her in a photograph? We would have missed out on a lot, for sure. We would have never known the love, the sacrifice, the caring, the prayers, and so forth that she had for us. But more than that, far more than that, if we only knew her through a photograph, she would have missed the blessing of the outpouring of her heart of Jesus towards us as her children, and we would have missed receiving the blessing of Christ's love through our dear mother. And that, my dear brothers and sisters, is why God came in the flesh, to reveal His heart toward us, his children!

A thankful son,

In Christ,

Time For Some Good News by Jay Weidner 12/12/08
Dear Friends,

Are you tired of receiving bad news? It seems as though every where one turns at this time there is nothing but bad news. How about a little good news; Jesus Christ the Son of the Living God was born in flesh, suffered, died and rose from the dead. His blood cancels out all our sin so that even though we remain sinners our sins are forgiven through His sacrifice and we stand before God spotless; washed in His precious, holy blood. Not only that but through His resurrection we have been given a new life into eternity, His Holy Spirit lives in us to direct our path to Him and on the last day Jesus is coming to the earth to take us home to live with Him forever. That’s as good as it gets.

When Paul wrote to the Thessalonians he recognized that times were not so good for them, they were suffering persecution for their faith, the news that this world was bringing them was bad. In order to encourage them he sent them messages of good news; messages regarding the finished work of Christ and His victory over sin, death and the devil. In the midst of the bad times Paul’s words gave them hope of a new and better day to come; a day in which they would be joined to Christ fully for eternity. This is the consolation of the saints:

KJV 1 Thessalonians 4:13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. 15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. 16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

KJV 2 Thessalonians 2:16 Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace, 17 Comfort your hearts, and stablish you in every good word and work.

During this Advent/Christmas season when the news is bad and it seems that there is little hope may God comfort the heart of each and every one of the faithful with these words. Let us watch and pray for the new day that has dawned already in our hearts by faith is soon to come in reality and power when all sorrow and travail will end and the peace of the Prince of Peace will reign over this earth.

God’s Peace,

Jay Weidner
