Wait on the LORD: be of good courage,
and he shall strengthen thine heart;
wait, I say, on the LORD.

Abounding Grace 1.10.2016
Grace Abounding!

Good morning, dear friend!!

May the abundant grace be received by all from God our Father and from His Son, our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ! He is abundant in grace, abounding in love and is ever seeking to bring us into a greater realization that in Him, we have it all! There is nothing more that He could give us, for He has given us Himself. Why did He do that for us? What did we do to deserve His grace and love? Well, actually we did not do anything good that we could point to which would cause Him to rescue us, but rather He rescued us because we decided against Him in the Garden of Eden by believing the lies of Satan.

But.......God......has always been for us, He came to be with us in the flesh (Christ) and now He lives in us. (Holy Spirit)

Apostle Paul, by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, wrote to the communion of saints in the early years of the church, a letter which was written by him and a letter which he would then have read in the Ephesian church, but which would also be read in many other churches. They would read the entire letter, listening to the voice of the reader through which they would hear the Voice of God speaking, the Voice of His Spirit. May we do the same as we quiet ourselves before Him, desiring to hear from heaven's great fountain of grace and truth in Jesus the Christ. Please note as to how after the greeting of grace and peace is extended from heaven, Paul breaks into praise for that which the saints at Ephesus and the faithful in Christ have had poured out unto them!!

We will hear that God has poured out His abundant grace and love upon us through Christ, we Him by believing and trusting in Him, and He gives us His Spirit as His promise for our future inheritance in heaven. (1-14)

The last part of our message is a prayer that is prayed by the Spirit to the end that we would "see" more clearly that which God has done for us and that we would "see" more clearly who we are in Christ. He is our identity, our complete identity. (15-23)

KJV Ephesians 1:1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, to the saints which are at Ephesus, and to the faithful in Christ Jesus:
2 Grace be to you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:

Love came down to bless us, and our response is to praise Him, for He has given us Jesus Christ! What are these spiritual blessings in Christ that we have been give?

4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:
5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,
6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.

Through the riches of His grace, what did He pour out?

7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;
8 Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence;
9 Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself:
10 That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:
11 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:
12 That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.

13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

15 Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all the saints,
16 Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers;
17 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:
18 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,
19 And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,
20 Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,
21 Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:
22 And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church,
23 Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.

What abundant grace He has poured out onto/into us!!! We know it with our mind, we hear it often, we read about it often, but due to weakness of our flesh, the distractions of the world and the attacks of Satan, at times we struggle with remembering who we are in Christ!!!

So what do we do about it? Well, kind of what we are doing right now, listening to God speak through this wonderful letter of grace and love. As we move to verse 15, it is difficult for me not to get a sense of the Spirit and His longing to drive this reality into the minds and hearts of the hearers of the message. They have grasped the Good News by faith, love has been shed abroad into their hearts which then has been poured out onto those around them, and Paul through the Spirit is not quite done speaking to them/to us yet. The Spirit refers to God as being the Father of glory, and calls upon Him to give them the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Christ, praying that the "eyes" of their understanding would be enlightened/granted vision. He points to three things:

1. The hope of their/our calling
2, The riches of the glory of their/our inheritance in the saints
3. The exceeding greatness of Christ's power to them/us who believe.

He closes his thoughts by pointing to the resurrected and ascended Christ, who reigns above all others powers, all things are under His feet, and He has been placed voer all things in the church, His body.

How I pray that these words will bring peace, quietness and joy into our hearts as we receive the Good News from heaven, which is by the Gospel of Jesus Christ. In Him we have received all things, in Him we have everything that God has given, and in Him we live, move and have our being. As we continue next week with the next portion of this letter, may we have been given such joy and peace from having our eyes opened by the Spirit that we will be very eager to hear what He wants to say to us next. May we be found reading this first chapter over and over, may we deeply think about each of the three things that the Spirit was moved to point out: The certain hope of glory that we possess as a result of our being called by the Gospel, the riches of glory of that which we (collectively) have now in heaven in Christ and which is our eternal inheritance and the over the top exceeding greatness of Christ's power to preserve us until that day!!!

May His abundant grace be upon you and in you today!!!
