Wait on the LORD: be of good courage,
and he shall strengthen thine heart;
wait, I say, on the LORD.

Letters from the heart of God 6.7.2015
Dear friend,

May the grace, mercy and peace from God our Father and His Son, Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ be with us today and always!

Last week we began a study in Apostle Paul's letter to the Colossian congregation, a letter which was written as a result of the minister, Epaphras, of the Colossian congregation making a visit to Paul who was in prison for preaching the resurrection of Jesus Christ. In this letter Paul wants to assure the believers in Colosse that the life that they now live as a result of believing the word of truth, the Gospel, is a fulfilled life, a life that is in Christ. He not only speaks of that which has been received by them, but he writes that that which has come to them is bearing fruit and growing in the whole world.

He then goes on to offer a prayer in which he does not pray for something that they do not already have, but he prays that they will come to a deeper understanding and knowledge of that which they do already possess as a result of the truth that the Gospel through the Word has brought to them through faith.

Are any of us ever very far away from the desire for the freedom that the flesh promises? This desire is resisted through recognizing the counterfeit additions offered by the flesh, the world and the devil. Our empowerment to resist this temptation comes through gaining a deeper knowledge of that what God has purchased for us in Jesus Christ, so that the impulse to look for something more to satisfy our longings is diminished. When we turn our eyes upon Jesus, the things of this world grow strangely dim in the light of His glory and grace. In essence, we conclude: "We have it all, why look for more? I have it all in Christ, why do I need to look for anything else?"

Today we will use as the basis of our meditations Colossians 1:3-23 as we continue our study of this letter.

Earlier we witnessed the baptism of Maci Schauer and later today is the graduation of two dear ones who were baptized as infants and were confirmed in their faith in this congregation, Marla Peterson and Alex Jarl. There is a lot of excitement in the air as graduations from high school/college are celebrated all across our great land of our United States of America.

Speeches are made through which the accomplishments of the past are celebrated, appreciation for those who have contributed to those accomplishments is given, and the hopes and dreams for future accomplishment and contributions are planned and charted. But suppose, just suppose Our Father in heaven was giving the speech at the commencement exercises. What would He say? I have considered this and prayerfully from Paul's letter to the Scriptures in Colossian written what He might say to our newest member of the congregation as well as to our graduates on the occasion of their graduation.

And may this message be received by all of us, from Maci's age all the way to the eldest in our congregation, who are anxiously awaiting the appearing of our dear Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ and the glorious inheritance that is for all who love His appearing.

To my dear child, to my dear graduates, and to all.......I want all to hear my Good News!

I am thankful for you and I joy in you. I have great pleasure in your being and I pour out my favor upon you this day through my Son Jesus in giving you the grace of Holy Baptism. I am love and therefore I love you, my dear child. You are mine, and I am yours. As you continue your life in me, I want you and I go grow in our relationship of love closer and closer until the time when we will be united in eternity forever!

As you grow and mature in your life in me, Who I am, what I have done for you and who you are in Me will never change, but what will change is that you will grow in your understanding, in your knowledge and in your experience of who I am, what I have done for you and who you are in me.

As you grapple with the questions of where you came from, what you are here for and where you are going, you will find that the answers to these three common questions are all found in Me through my Word and Spirit.

Let me remind you what I have done for you through my Son and who He is..

I sent my Son on your behalf so that you could be a partaker of this great inheritance of the saints in light, that you could be in my kingdom, in my family, for you are my child by My grace. I have delivered you from the power of darkness, and placed you in the kingdom of my dear Son. My Son purchased you through the shedding of His blood, through His sacrificial offering for your sin which results in the forgiveness of your sins. The Great Exchange: My Son took your sin and gave you His righteousness by which I am pleased.

It was by Him, my Son, that all things were created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: For by him were all things And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.

He not only has created all things, but he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence. He is second to no other created thing...Period!!

For it made me very pleased to place in Him all my fulness, I placed my Godness in his human body. And through Him, peace has been made through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.

And you, that you who were separated from me through the fall of Adam/mankind into sin, yet now hath he reconciled in the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight:

My dear child, through Him you are holy, without blame and without reproof! Through His sinless life, your sin is taken away. I wanted you, I want you all your life and I want you with me in heaven forever and forever.......

You are my child, so continue always believing in what My Son has accomplished for you, which will keep you grounded and settled, and don't be moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven. It is for this purpose that I delivered my servant Paul from a life of his own righteousness so that he might preach the saving righteousness of my Son! Hang on to that which I have done for you through My Son.....

And now a response from Maci..

To my Dad and Mom and to all my family, including my church family.

Thank you for showing me God's love in the way you care for me when even when I am not able to do anything for you. I can already see the grace of Jesus for souls by the way that you, Dad and Mom, love me. You hold me, you feed me, you cloth me, you rock me, you change me, you burp me and I can't do anything but accept it and depend on you for everything. Thank you for loving me unconditionally.

I know that I am a gift from the Lord and that He has given you to be my parents. Thank you for giving me life so that together on earth we may praise our Creator in the expectant hope that we will praise Him in heaven one day and that will be forever. Please pray for me, because I know that your prayers will help me and that your prayers for me are in golden bowls full of incense which come before Our Father in heaven. Pray for me believing, trusting, regularly, fervently, persistently, but above all, in the name of Jesus, because I know that He hears every prayer that is prayed by you. Pray for me that my life would bring glory to Our Father and that it would be lived so that it would bless others. Please remember, dad and mom, that my guardian angels are always beholding our Heavenly Father's face, just waiting for prayers from you to be received up into heaven. When your prayers rise to heaven, Our Heavenly Father sends his angels to bring whatever help we are needing. .

Dad and Mom, teach me about Jesus from my new Bible, train me in the way I should go; so that I will never go away from Jesus; knowing that what I learn about Jesus from the Bible will form my life. For God has given us the Bible so that I will learn about Jesus from Jesus Himself , through that which He did and said. Read to me about Jesus, who loved to take little children into his lap and bless them with His gentle and loving hands.

Teach me right from wrong, both by God's Word and by your example. When I am so young and impressionable, I will learn mostly by your example and not so much by your words. What is important to you will be important to me. What is not important to you will not be important to me. So, I ask you, dad, and mom, to teach me what love means by your example of loving each other. Your commitment to love one another conditionally for the long haul sure gives me a safe and secure feeling.

Show and teach me about the love of Jesus so that I will learn to understand the difference between "me first type of love" and "you first type of love." Read to me, explain to me of the love that God has for all his image bearers, which includes you,(dad and mom, ) as well as Tristen, Abby and myself. Not just us, but all of our family, Grandpa, Grandma, Uncle, Auntie, my cousins, my friends, well, everyone.. Keep taking me to church with you and even if I am sometimes noisy, or busy, don't think that it is a waste of time, for I am learning discipline and respect for God through being with you in church. When I get old enough, take me to Sunday School so that I can learn with other children of God as well as play with my little brothers and sisters in the Lord. I love my God, I love my Jesus, and isn't it wonderful, dad and mom, and Tristen, and Abby, that we can learn of Him together as we go through life, knowing that one day we will really praise him and that will be forever and forever.

I love you,

To my dear graduates, past, present and future..

You have reached a big milestone in your life and are looking ahead into your future with hope and excitement. Your foundation is built upon my Son, the Solid Rock as revealed in the Bible. This you have received through your parents and family, through your church and through your godly friends . And you know that the plans and future I have for you are of hope and of expectation, a future which ultimately will be in heaven with Me.

My dear child, I love you so much and I want that our relationship would grow and deepen. Our relationship is bound together by faith and is evidenced by love Because I love you, I not only affirm, assure and encourage you, but at times I will warn you against those things that would cause our relationship to drift apart. Please know that in these times when I correct you, that I am for you, and not against you.

My dear child, if you lack wisdom, ask Me for it, and I will give it to you, for I give it generously and I never rebuke anyone who asks Me for My wisdom. When you ask for wisdom, trust in Me that I will deliver it to you.

I have left you with a wonderful book of wisdom, called Proverbs which will teach you, along with the rest of My Word, how to live your everyday life. Please remember that My wisdom is lived out by applying My knowledge into your everyday life. I have given you a ready made reading plan for reading the book of Proverbs as there are 31 chapters in this book. Once you get into a rhythm of reading the chapter of Proverbs that corresponds with the day's date, you will find that over time you will look forward to hearing of wisdom from Me daily.

This will help you immensely to be able to discern that which is good from that which is evil. Stand on those things that I say and you will have a blessed life and one that will be a blessing to others around you. I have blessed you so that you may be a blessing to others. Stand firm on those things that I share with you from My love letter to you, the Bible.

The grace and blessing of My Armor

Perhaps each morning, My dear child, when you arise from a night's sleep, consider putting on My armor, one piece at a time. Beginning with your heart and mind turned heavenward in a spirit of prayer, first wrap around you the belt of truth onto which all other parts of My armor will be fastened. This is where reading and meditating upon my Word comes in, My dear child, for that is like putting on the belt of truth each day. Vow to walk in truth as you begin each new day in Me.

Then consider putting on the breastplate which means that you are covered by the righteousness of My Son, Jesus Christ. Do not forget, My dear child, that My Son was tempted in all points by sin, but He never sinned. Through your believing in Him, His perfection is your perfection, never never forget that, for your entire existence is based upon this truth. That is why I invite you to first put on the belt of truth, for all of your beliefs and convictions must be connected to My Word of Truth, the Bible.

As you go through life, you may be tempted to believe that your identity as a person is based on your accomplishments, your outward appearance, your popularity and so forth. But that is not how I place value upon you, for you are priceless in my sight because I created you in My image. Even though you fell into sin along with the entire human race, My Son has given you a new identity by dying in your place for your sin, experiencing death for you, and then arising from the dead on Easter morning. You died in Him and were also raised in Him. You now exist in Him and through Him you are a new creation in Christ. Never, never, never forget that!! You do not belong to the world, to the Deceiver or to your own estimation of yourself. You are in mine and I am yours.

As you slip into the shoes of peace, know that they will be able to keep your feet firmly planted on My promises as you began to walk the new day in Me. They will not only keep you from slipping, but they will also give you a sense of peace as you live in the peace that my Son gave you and a peace that the world cannot ever take away from you. He is your Peace and your Stability. These shoes of peace will also enable you to share with others of the peace that abides in your heart through Me.

Then grasp the shield of faith in one of your hands by which you are able to move from position to position to ward off the darts of accusation that you know the devil will throw at you in the new day as he tries to take away the peace that you have, my dear child. The Deceiver does not want to you believe that forgiveness is a gift, but that it is something that you have to earn or something which you deserve. That is not right, for I have given you the greatest gift ever, for My Son took your sin and guilt and gave you forgiveness and life through the Gospel. Always believe that message, always believe it and never doubt it!

As you place the helmet of the hope of salvation over your head, you will be uplifted and strengthened in faith and love so that your mind and heart will be fixed upon my promises and will be shielded from the many thoughts that attack your mind each day from the evil one, who always wants to separate Me from you. Resist him and he will flee.

Lastly before you head out the door to face the new day, I ask you to pick up one of the two offensive weapons of your armor, My Word. With my Word in your heart and mind, you will know where you came from, why you are here and where you are going. . As you leave your home, do so with the other offensive weapon, prayer, by being in the spirit of prayer as you step into the light of a new day. For having put on My entire armor, you are now prepared to walk in my truth in love and to demonstrate through your attitudes, words and actions of who you are in My Son, Jesus Christ.

Colossians 1:9 I want that you may be filled with the knowledge of My will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding,
10 so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Me, fully pleasing to Me , bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of Me, your God. I want you be strengthened with all power, according to My glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy,
12 giving thanks to the Me, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light.

We love you, We are in you and you one in Us, My dear child.

We heard Maci's response to the letter from heaven. What is our response to His letter of love to us?

Your Father in heaven
